Talenthouse Winner Lilyana Maslenishka
Leona says that the quality of the Talenthouse designs made it hard for her and her team to come to a decision: “We all spent so long going through each and every design. I was amazed and impressed by the care, time and effort people put in.” In the end, it was Lilyana’s submission that stood out most to the performer, who chose her design to be developed by Leona’s team into a reality. Watch this fantastic video from when Talenthouse winner Lilyana Maslenishka finds out her design was chosen as the winner!
My heartfelt condolences go out to Kerry’s family. Such a talented and lovely lady, I’m honoured to have met her. The strength and spirit she possessed is inspirational to so many people.
Leona takes a moment to say thanks to everyone that participated in her dress search with Talenthouse. “I really wanted to give someone the chance to have their design seen, just like I was given the chance to be exposed to a big audience” - Leona
Leona wears the winning design at the Royal Variety Performance 2012 during the finale performance with Cee Lo Green and is pictured wearing the dress meeting Princess Anne.

After hundreds of submissions, a public vote and much deliberation from Leona, Glamour Magazine editor Jo Elvin and British designer William Tempest, Lilyana’s beautiful design was declared the winner.

The Hurt EP features a collection of three covers; Iris (Goo Goo Dolls), Colorblind (Counting Crows) and the title track Hurt (Nine Inch Nails). All three tracks are delivered with the tenderness and delicate beauty that we all so easily recognise as Leona.
Leona has been in the studio finishing her forthcoming third studio album Glassheart, set for release next year. Most recently she has been working with acclaimed British producer Fraser T Smith who has worked with names such as Adele, Kylie Minogue, Cee-Lo Green, Britney Spears and Ellie Goulding. After working together on songs for the new album they decided to put together an EP to be released for fans while Glassheart is being finished.
Of the EP Leona said, ‘I have been enjoying my time in the studio with Fraser so much and we felt that this EP would be a nice treat for fans whilst they wait for us to finish the album.‘
Leona appeared on Daybreak this morning, talking about a cause very close to her heart - the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary. Hopefield is a charity that cares for over 200 neglected and abused animals. Christmas is a particularly tough time, as more animals are abandoned than ever. Leona spoke to the Daybreak team about mucking in on the farm and her fundraising efforts. She also had time to talk about her upcoming performance on the X Factor this weekend. She’ll be singing at the live final in Wembley on Saturday evening, so remember to tune in!

Leona Lewis joined by fashion experts in her search to find a new generation of ethical designers
Last week Leona Lewis announced she had teamed up with Talenthouse for an amazing one-off opportunity to offer her fans and the future designers of tomorrow the chance to design an outfit that she will wear at a major upcoming performance.
Today Leona reveals that will be joined by editor of British Glamour magazine Jo Elvin and fashion designer William Tempest to help her choose the winning design.
Jo Elvin has edited Glamour since its launch in 2001. Within a year of launching Glamour became the UK’s biggest selling glossy monthly, a position the magazine has maintained ever since. Jo has won countless industry awards as well as establishing one of the biggest annual events of the year, the Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
William Tempest is a British fashion designer. After studying womenswear design at The London College of Fashion he went on to work for Giles Deacon in London and Jean Charles de Castelbajac in Paris, before starting up his own label, creating luxurious, modern and contemporary designs which have been worn by the crème de la crème of stylish British women, including Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Lily Allen and, of course, Leona.
Leona said: “I’m extremely thrilled to be joined by Jo and William. They are two people who are leaders in the field of fashion and that I’ve had the privilege of working with before. They take this competition to a whole new level.”

Leona supports WSPA’s Red Collar Campaign
On World Rabies day, Leona launches WSPA’s global Red Collar campaign to protect dogs and communities from both cruelty and rabies. WSPA is calling on governments worldwide to tackle rabies through the only humane and effective solution: mass vaccination of dogs.
Twenty million dogs are brutally killed every year. That’s 38 every minute. They die in horrific ways including poisoning, beating and electrocution. The video below contains disturbing images of this cruelty but the real tragedy is that killing dogs doesn’t stop the spread of rabies – one of the main reasons behind such culls. Mass vaccination is the only solution.
Rabies: a global problem with a global solution
WSPA is calling on governments worldwide to stop killing dogs and start running effective dog vaccination programmes. WSPA wants every vaccinated dog to be fitted with a red collar so that communities know which vulnerable animals have been protected against rabies.
“I think it’s absolutely horrific that 20 million dogs are killed every year, often because of the fear of rabies, whenthere is an alternative solution,” said WSPA celebrity supporter Leona Lewis, “I really want to help WSPA to spread the word worldwide and end the cruelty that is happening at the moment. By educating people and getting vaccinations out there, we’re not only helping dogs, but entire communities.”

Leona Lewis’s incredible story continues today with the announcement of her brand new single Collide. With Collide, the record-breaking international superstar from Hackney showcases a new sound that is set to dominate dance floors across Europe this summer.
Collide, a dance-pop anthem, is a departure from Leona’s signature sound and is her first new recorded material to be heard since the release of her Number 1 album Echo in 2009. Collide is a massive tune with a euphoric catchy chorus. Built around a staccato piano riff, Collide builds and builds into an immense anthem. Leona’s world class vocal is instantly recognisable and is a powerful reminder as to why she has enjoyed such incredible global success to date.
Talking about the track, Leona said “I’m excited for people to see a different side to my music. I’m a fan of so many different genres and styles. For me this song has all the great ingredients of a summer anthem. I can’t wait for my fans to hear it and to share the rest of the album.”
Collide will get its first UK radio play today on the Scott Mills show on Radio 1 (Friday 15th July - between 4-7pm).
Collide has also been remixed by the hottest DJ/producer in the world right now, Afrojack (Grammy award winner, credits include US no 1 Pitbull ‘Give Me Everything’ and remixes for Madonna, Lady GaGa, Black Eyed Peas, Tinie Tempah, Snoop Dogg). In the last few days Afrojack has already road tested his remix a couple of times in Ibiza, getting great responses with audiences demanding to know who the tune is by.
Marking a new chapter for the multi-platinum selling artist, Collide is the first track to be taken from Leona’s as yet untitled third studio album, which she is currently putting the finishing touches to, due for release in November.

Leona Gets ‘Tattooed’ for HSI’s Campaign to End Animal-Tested Cosmetics
Leona joins comedian Ricky Gervais and former Spice Girl Melanie C in support of the Humane Society International’s Cruelty-Free 2013 campaign to end the sale of animal-tested cosmetics in the European Union. In a set of stunning shots by top celebrity photographers Ray Burmiston and Christopher Ameruoso, the stars have sported temporary tattoos with an ‘End Animal Testing’ message to urge consumers to sign HSI’s on-line petition
Leona states on the Humane Society’s website; “It’s upsetting to think that right now thousands of animals are enduring painful tests for cosmetics that could end up being sold on EU shop shelves. So I’m sending a plea to EU politicians to have a heart for animals by keeping their promise to ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics in 2013. If companies can’t sell their products, they’ll stop animal testing, and we’ll be one stop closer to the whole world being cruelty-free.”

Leona Voted London’s Most Influential Woman
Leona has come out tops in a poll to find London’s Most Influential Woman!
Taking almost two-thirds of the votes, which topped 10,000, and beating the likes of ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts, Leona will now feature in an exhibition at London’s City Hall called Our London, Our Women.
Leona joins a number of famous voices who have been speaking out on behalf of Not in my Cuppa, the World Society for the Protection of Animals’ campaign which claimed a recent success after leading the campaign against the recently withdrawn Nocton Dairies proposal in Lincolnshire.
“I think it is shocking that in a country like Britain - with our good reputation for animal welfare and farming - that we are even talking about intensive dairy farms. While it’s great news that Nocton Dairies have decided not to build this factory dairy farm, we won’t stop until we know factory milk from battery cows will never be allowed in Britain. I hope lots of people join me in saying “not in my cuppa”, before anyone tries to build a mega dairy somewhere else in the UK” Leona says.
Nocton Dairies wanted to build an industrial dairy operation that would have housed 3,770 cows. However, while their application may have been withdrawn, the developers have threatened to resubmit in the future and it is the second such ‘farm’ that the Not in my Cuppa have fought off in less than a year.
Not in my Cuppa is warning that giant mega dairies are rife with potentially damaging consequences for animal welfare, the environment, our countryside and our farmers.
WSPA believes there is an alternative to intensive mega-dairies that can work well for farmers, consumers and cow welfare alike. The charity needs the public’s support to stop this planning application. If you want to follow in Leona’s footsteps go to www.notinmycuppa.com/takepart to join in.

JodieBuchanan: Leona Lewis was amazing last night in Newcastle!! One of the greatest nights
What fans are saying on the forum:
She sounded BETTER than in her CDs and on TV! She sounded pitch-perfect (not once in the entire show she sang out of pitch, not even for one second!), her voice was so powerful and yet soft at the same time, when she hit high notes it felt effortless. - Vale
It was out of the world. Epic. - Robbie
I have to say it was really amazing! Leona’s voice is incredible! If you think it’s good from what we’ve heard on TV or Youtube, you’ll be blown away by the power and rawness of it! I was shocked! I’ve followed her since 2006 and there was no way I thought she could belt like that! Homeless was amazing, she belted so good at the end! My chest swelled with pride, literally, I wanted to shout out but being quite shy (it was my first concert) I didnt! But she had SOOO much control when belting at the top of her range! - Lovin’Leona

What fans are saying on the forum:
Wow, Wow, Wow! Still buzzing from last night, didn’t sleep much! Leona was absolutely incredible, blew me away. She looked so gorgeous last night and even though ive seen videos of her live performances in the past, she still managed to suprise me with the way she effortlessly hit and held the high notes, Loved the part with Leona on the swing! Incredible how she did that and sing at the same time! Great atmosphere, the dancers were amazing and Leona really connected with the crowd. She’s come such a long way since the X-Factor. Paul
I was at the 02 last night and what can I say - Leona was absolutely incredible! Her voice is just so amazing, I was finding it hard to breathe at times! I love ‘Run’ and was so pleased that she sang it for the finale. Unfortunately, I had to leave before the encore - so will have to wait for the DVD. If I could have, I would have gone to every concert - Leona was just spectacular, there is no other way to describe her. 11 out of 10. Jason_bloke
The audience burst in to cheer, a spectacular interactive audio visual display with narration came with videos of faces and horses. A mist was crossing the stage out of the archway Leona Lewis appeared wearing hooded cloak and a glittering silver 1960’s style dress. Every thing started to go into a blur I was dreaming now, heart rate going up and shaking. John Messenbird
Highlights for me were: Leona in a swinging on a swing while performing ‘I Got You’, incredible how she did that; ‘Homeless’ and the sublime ‘First time I Saw Your Face’, I was just lost in her beautiful voice. I still get amazed at how effortlessly Leona hits and holds the high notes. The covers were awesome, especially ‘Could It Be Magic’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’. paultallman
